Community Development studies at Algoma University prepares students to collaborate with communities to drive meaningful change by identifying common concerns and building relationships with organizations and influential stakeholders. With a focus on northern, rural, remote and Indigenous communities, students learn to create opportunities for skill development, social inclusion and equity, empowering individuals to work together for collective action.
In their third year, students can enhance their learning through a 150-hour field placement with a community organization, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Graduates are well-equipped for diverse careers as community development officers, organizers, event planners, legal advocacy workers and educators, among other roles in the charitable sector.
