QSuccess is an innovative mentorship program created and delivered in collaboration with educators, wellness experts, professional staff and student leaders. QSuccess aims to remove barriers and contribute to a successful transition through the first year of university through ongoing engagement and one-on-one mentoring.

QSuccess programming can help you:

  • Develop skills to succeed academically, including time management, note-taking and study skills
  • Learn to balance the academic and social demands of university life
  • Develop strategies to stay physically and mentally healthy
  • Meet peers and develop a campus community
  • Connect with campus resources that can play a role in your success

Most importantly, a mentor can be a listening ear as you navigate the challenges and celebrate the success of your first-year at Queen’s.

Student Academic Success Services offers academic group support sessions, workshops, online guides and the chance to work one-on-one with our experts to help you develop your skills in critical thinking, reading, learning, studying, writing and self-management.

Orientation
Indigenous Individual

Welcome Day is hosted by the Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre (4D), giving first-year Indigenous students, their families and guests the chance to meet Indigenous staff, connect with other Indigenous students and move into residence early.

International Student Services

Queen's University's International Centre (QUIC) offers orientation programming for incoming international students. Incoming international students are invited to join information sessions, social events, free bus trips, walks, tours and more!

SOAR is a free online summer orientation program for incoming first-year students and their parents and supporters. SOAR aims to help prepare students for new academic expectations, address questions or concerns about university life and introduce resources and support services for all incoming students, including:

  • An online social community hub – exclusively for first-year students – where you will access all SOAR programming
  • Live Webinars to learn about critical information on course selection, living on and off campus, university life and more
  • Virtual socials to meet and have fun with your peers
  • Opportunities to connect with upper-year student leaders to get advice, tips and answers to your questions
  • Faculty sessions to meet your program’s staff and faculty, and learn about your new academic expectations
