The universities offer different programs and supports for many types of students. The resources on this page can help you adapt to life and studies at university.

    • Contact [email protected] to inquire about registering with us. You will be sent a form to complete to register with Accessibility Services. The form tells us a little bit about you and your needs while at school. You will then complete the registration form and return it to us.
  • The Writing Lab & The Math Lab
    • The Writing Lab is a free service available to all AlgomaU registered students in any discipline and year of study. Students make individual appointments to meet with the Writing Lab Instructor to get help with planning, drafting, researching and referencing throughout the writing process.

Course Equivalents to High School Courses
Pre-Grade 12 Student; Grade 12 Student; Parent or Supporter

The University Access Program is a pre-university qualifying year, 2 semesters in length, that offers students an excellent opportunity to satisfy their university admission requirements and acquire essential university study skills.

Who is eligible?

  • Students who have achieved their OSSD diploma with a minimum cumulative average of 60-64%; 
  • Students who have completed at least 5 Grade 12 U/M courses with a minimum cumulative average of 60-64% for those AU programs which require a minimum 65%; 
  • Students who have completed at least 5 Grade 12 U/M courses with a minimum cumulative average of 65-69% for those AU programs which require a minimum 70%.

AUAP is not a stand-alone program. Eligible students do not have to apply for the AUAP separately. They will apply for a degree program of their choice through the regular channels (e.g., through  (OUAC) or directly via the ). Eligible students will receive admission with a condition of AUAP completion.
