Algoma University’s Anishinaabe Studies program, offered in collaboration with Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig, provides an immersive exploration of Anishinaabe history, philosophy and worldview. This unique, culture-based curriculum emphasizes restoring and honoring Anishinaabe cultural values and fosters a holistic understanding of both traditional and contemporary Anishinaabe practices.
Students gain hands-on experience with traditional lifeways and modern research techniques relevant to Indigenous and non-Indigenous contexts. Graduates are prepared for impactful roles in education, consulting, Indigenous and government organizations, non-profits and university Indigenous initiatives, contributing to cross-cultural understanding and advocacy.
