Notes

Studying Social Work at Algoma equips students with the skills to engage in generalist social work through anti-racist, anti-colonial, Indigenous, structural, feminist and anti-oppressive practices. With a strong focus on equity, social justice and ethical practice, this program prepares graduates to work with diverse, often marginalized communities, including those in northern, rural, remote, Indigenous and Franco-Ontarian areas. In their fourth year, students complete a 700-hour field placement, applying classroom knowledge to real-world situations. Accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education, this program allows graduates to register with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, opening doors to roles in mental health, community services, child welfare and more.
