Are you a high achiever with a dream of working as a medical professional? Through this unique program, you will graduate career-ready with the broad range of interdisciplinary skills needed for a career in the medical and healthcare sector. Broaden your perspective as you spend your first 2 years exploring a range of scientific, social and humanist theories and issues as a BAS student at Trent. From there, you will head across the Atlantic to complete a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours degree at Swansea University in the UK in one of their dedicated medical pathway programs, including Applied Medical Sciences, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Genetics, Medical Pharmacology, and Population Health and Medical Science. As a student in this program, you will also benefit from the comprehensive supports of the Medical Professional Stream (MPS) at Trent.
Language Requirements
Trent accepts:
- TOEFL
- CAEL
- IELTS
- Duolingo English Test
- Pearson PTE
- C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Advanced English) by Cambridge Assessment English.
The minimum number of years required to waive requirements for an English proficiency test is 3 full years of study in an institution where English is the primary language of instruction (English as a Second Language [ESL] excluded).
The Trent-ESL pathway program now offers more value for your English-language learning. Our 2 highest ESL levels are now credit courses. This means that your ESL studies are now part of your degree. Trent is the only university in Canada granting full university credits for ESL that can be applied to all Trent undergraduate degrees. Now ESL students can finish Trent-ESL with up to 3 complete credits. This represents 60% of your first year of university study!
Admission
Offers of Admission
Basic Requirements for Admission (Required for All Programs)
You must complete the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). A minimum average of 70% is required for consideration for admission. A minimum grade of 60% must be obtained in ENG4U. You must present a minimum of six 4U/M courses to be considered for admission.
Note: Some programs may have higher average and supplementary application requirements. Some programs may also require a minimum number of 4U/M courses.
Failed and Repeated Courses
If you repeat a course, the highest of the 2 grades will be used in the admission average calculation, if applicable.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
For full-time enrollment beginning in September, Trent University expects to send offers of admission on an ongoing basis starting in January.
You must complete or be registered in six 4U/M courses. Admission decisions will be made using grades from a minimum of 3 final 4U/M courses if you are in a semestered school, or 6 interim 4U/M courses if you are in a non-semestered school.
Grade 11 grades may be used to extend an early offer of admission when sufficient 4U/M grades are not available. All offers of admission are conditional, pending the successful completion of all OSSD requirements and prerequisites with satisfactory academic standing.
Extenuating Circumstances
If you have experienced extenuating circumstances that may have affected your academic performance (e.g., your average is below 70%), you may submit a supplementary application. This form will be available on your myTrent portal after applying to Trent.
