New Programs

NEW Program:

  • Science and Financial Management is replacing Biotechnology/Chartered Professional Accountancy.

NEW Majors:

  • Creative and Professional Writing major (Honours Arts and Honours Arts and Business programs)
  • Recreation and Leisure Studies majors have changed. You can now major in: Recreation, Leadership, and Health; Sport and Recreation Management; or Therapeutic Recreation. Apply to Recreation and Leisure Studies and select your major on your application.

NEW Minors:

  • Addictions, Mental Health and Policy (available to all Waterloo students)
  • Neuroscience Minor
  • Cell and Molecular Biology
  • Microbiology option
  • Indigenous Entrepreneurship Minor
  • Indigenous Studies Minor

NEW Diplomas:

  • Black Studies
  • Fundamentals of Anti-Racist Communication
  • Health Humanities
  • Indigenous Entrepreneurship Diploma

Program Changes

  • Math/Chartered Professional Accountancy now offers a Data Analytics specialization.
  • Creative and Professional Writing major (Honours Arts and Honours Arts and Business programs).
  • Arts: Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies name changed to Sexualities, Relationships, and Families. Religious Studies name changed to Religion, Culture, and Spirituality.
  • Math: Applied Mathematics with Scientific Computing name changed to Applied Mathematics with Scientific Computing and Scientific Machine Learning.
  • Accounting and Financial Management and Sustainability and Financial Management no longer require an additional supplemental application.

Admission Updates

Engineering (excluding Architecture) Application and Document Deadlines:

  • Application deadline: January 15, 2026
  • deadline: January 30, 2026

Co-operative (Co-op) Education:

  •  If you would like to be considered for a co-op program, you must check the co-op box on your application.

Health:

  • Recreation majors: Apply to Recreation and Leisure Studies and select your major using the Subject of Major Interest menu. If you are accepted to Recreation and Leisure Studies, you will be placed in your chosen major before arriving in Waterloo in September.
  • Health Sciences: If you are interested in being considered for the co-op and regular streams, you should apply to both. Automatic consideration for the regular stream is not guaranteed due to the popularity of both streams.

Indigenous Tuition: 

  • The University of Waterloo will waive tuition for incoming and current Waterloo students who are members of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation or Six Nations of the Grand River. Please visit our  for more information.
